Renovations are never easy, and there are many traps for people who aren’t familiar with the building industry. A common experience for first time renovators are hidden costs, surprises and short cut options that turn into your long term problems once the builder has packed up their tools. Our experience with JSR builders was one of collaboration and honesty throughout our project.
JSR are a family business, the brothers and father run the company and pride themselves on giving old fashioned pragmatic building guidance. One of their major strengths is that they listen to their customer needs, and provide advice built from solid experience. In any job, there will be changes that occur in the building process that may have been unexpected. In ours we decided once we had started, that the best option was to remove a wall to open up the kitchen area to provide a better living experience. This required strata approval, engineers reports and the actual construction of a beam structure without disturbing any adjoining apartments in the block. JSR did a fantastic job helping us navigating the process.
JSR seeks the clients input on a regular basis to ensure fittings and fixtures are meeting the standards expected inside budget requirements. They don’t force the client to use standard cheap fitting to make their budgets work. They allowed us to find our own fittings inside a budget guide line to ensure we got the end result we were looking for. With the aid of the internet we got the luxury touches at the right price for JSR and ourselves. It was a bit like living The Block experience.
JSR also worked well with the Real Estate agent, and took their valued suggestions on board. The added help and guidance from Lang and Simons on our project made sure we kept the end goal in sight at all times regarding required outcome. The end result is beyond our expectations.
On our project there were increases vs the original budget, but this was pre aligned with JSR and ourselves . The changes were due to the structural change of the wall removal and make good. The rest of the fittings and fit outs came on budget due to JSR working with us to get the best outcome.
What any home owner wants at the end of a renovation, especially first timers is to see a definite return on investment. The proof is in the revaluation and the rental from the real estate agent at the end of the job. On both accounts we have significantly increased the value of our unit, and the rental.
If you are a first home owner, or own a rental apartment in need of a total make over, I can recommend the experience you get by working with JSR, who will delight you, and increase your property value if you work with them and give them a detailed brief up front.
